4th Grade Math
In 4th Grade, we use the Saxon Math textbook. One huge key to doing well in 4th grade math is having your multiplication facts memorized! So, make sure you are practicing! Students should expect to have nightly mixed practice homework in their textbook. I usually assign students to do the even numbers or the odd numbers based on the lesson, for example if we did lesson 23 in class students would complete lesson 23 mixed practice #1-29 ODD, because it is an ODD lesson. So, on average students will have about 15 problems for homework a night. I will often give them a chance to start their homework in class in case they have any questions. If students have any problems that they have trouble with at home, they can come to me with questions at the start of the day and I am more than happy to help them. Students will take a test after we have completed five lessons in the textbook. I will always have a review day before a test and I send home a review packet for the students to work on the night before a test. If they can do the work in the review packet they will do great on the test!
